Engaging with our people, our community and the environment 

At Buzzacott we aim to embed ESG practices across all areas of our business. We believe that for an ESG programme to truly make an impact, it cannot be exclusively shaped by mandated processes, nor by a siloed approach to addressing the ‘E’, the ‘S’ and the ‘G’.  

We consider our impact both within our firm and in the wider community and rely on collaboration to build lasting relationships. We’re continuing to build and develop our people, community, and environmental programmes so that we can have a meaningful impact throughout our ways of working. 

Our people 

Above all else, we are a people business. Everything we are, and all that we do for our clients, starts and ends with our team members. We are dedicated to equal opportunities and treatment for all our staff, regardless of background or personal circumstances. 

We’re continually evolving our EDI strategy and diversity and inclusion programme, with the goal of creating a more inclusive workplace. Our culture is open and inclusive, where individuals are comfortable bringing their true selves to work and are supported through every step of their career with us. 

Supporting the mental health and wellbeing our staff is also fundamental to our success. Buzzacott is committed to building a workplace environment and culture that encourages healthy lifestyles and promotes mental wellbeing. 

Our community 

Everyone at Buzzacott can take 14 hours each year to volunteer in the community, either through internally promoted local opportunities or for organisations that hold personal meaning to them. Our volunteers donate their time to make a difference in our local communities on projects that improve the environment, support education, improve mental or physical wellbeing, alleviate food poverty and support charity fundraising. 

The Buzzacott Stuart Defries Memorial Fund (BSDMF) sits at the heart of Buzzacott’s ESG programme. The fund was established in 2003 in posthumous memory of Buzzacott Partner, Stuart Defries, to support small charities that work with children and young people based in and around the City of London. It provides grants and other support to suitable charities, and backs staff-matched giving.

Our environment 

We take our environmental responsibilities seriously, both in the office and with our team members working from home. As a growing organisation, we recognise that even small changes multiplied across our business can add up to big changes. Sustainability is built into our building and our thinking – from the motion-controlled lighting to our careful treatment of waste materials. We are also midway through an office-wide refurbishment project, prioritising creating a more environmentally friendly workplace.
