Barbara Bento - Senior Manager.

Barbara joined Buzzacott in 2018 and works alongside Mark Taylor, Head of the Tax Investigations and Dispute Resolution team.

Barbara leads our mediation services and is a fully accredited CEDR Mediator, internationally recognised as the standard of excellence in mediator qualifications. Using her skills and training to effectively mediate commercial disputes. 

She provides specialist advice assisting companies and individuals across all industry sectors with a full range of tax investigation and dispute resolution services. Barbara specialises in complex voluntary disclosures and tax investigations, such as Code of Practice 9 (COP9), and has an impressive reputation for successfully challenging HMRC discovery tax and penalty assessments. She understands her client's needs and concerns, ensuring those with exposure are treated fairly and do not pay unnecessary tax, interest or penalties. Barbara has a proven track record in resolving long standing disputes quickly and cost effectively and negotiates beneficial settlement terms with HMRC on behalf of her clients.

She is qualified by the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT), which is the leading professional body for those providing UK tax compliance services and by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), which is the global body for professional accountants.

Outside of the office, Barbara enjoys travelling especially to Madeira, her native country.
