What are the typical employee benefits?
A Workplace Pension is a legal requirement for all UK employers. Employers must meet, or exceed, the minimum contribution requirements. Employers are required to offer a scheme to which employees can be automatically enrolled rather than opting to join.
You can consider using pension salary sacrifice. This allows employees to contribute from gross salary, which results in National Insurance savings for the employee and employer, and immediate tax relief for higher rate taxpayers.
If provided, employees normally automatically join these policies on their start date if they meet the eligibility criteria, or once probation is passed. These are some of the benefits offered by most employers.
- Group Life Assurance
- Group Income Protection
- Private Medical Insurance (UK or global coverage): This can also be set up to give employees the option to join.
There are a range of plans that can be set up by an employer, with the costs being fully or partly funded if the employee decides to join. Examples include:
- Dental insurance
- Health assessments
- Leisure travel insurance
- Critical illness cover
- Health cash plan
- Cycle-to-work scheme
- Retail discounts platform
- Electric car
These can be arranged as stand-alone plans or included as non-contractual components within some group life assurance policies. Examples include:
- Employee assistance program
- Mental health support
- Online GP
- Financial education
- Gym membership
- Online physiotherapy
- Elder care support
Why work with us?
We’ll work closely with you to understand your objectives, help you manage risk and costs, and ensure you get the most from your benefits.
A strategic approach
A joined-up benefits strategy is crucial to ensure you're getting the most out of your investment. We’ll consider the key areas, including how the benefits can align with your culture and employee experience; ways to enhance employee understanding, awareness and engagement; the use of health and wellbeing benefits to foster a positive environment; and utilising the available management information to inform you of utilisation and engagement.
Freedom from routine administration
We can use your payroll data to streamline many of the administrative processes on a monthly basis. We'll take on the benefits element of your new hire onboarding, manage pension and auto-enrolment compliance, support scheme renewals, update insurance and pension providers of member changes and liaise with payroll.
Maximise employee engagement
Through regular and strategic employee communications, we can help ensure you obtain maximum value from your package. We'll produce and deliver communications that promote the package you offer, using content that explains the benefits from your employees’ perspectives, including what the benefits mean, what the main features are, how to join, and costs and tax implications.
Joined-up approach
By working collaboratively with other internal teams, we’re able to take a holistic approach to your organisation’s needs. Whether you require our assistance with pensions and employee benefits or also with payroll support, outsourced accounting, or other services, we can provide just one service, or the full suite. We can also work with existing providers and other third parties to ease the burden for you.
