Peter Chapman takes up role as Managing Partner of Buzzacott
1 Oct 2026 •
Today Peter Chapman formally takes up the role of Managing Partner at Buzzacott. He succeeds Tony Hopson, who has led the firm for the past eight years.
Peter has spent 16 years at Buzzacott, where he has held several senior leadership positions and has served as a long-standing member of the Executive Committee.
Peter takes up the role at a time when consolidation continues across the UK mid-tier professional services sector. While many firms have pursued private equity investment or mergers, Buzzacott remains committed to its independent partnership model.
Peter Chapman, Managing Partner, said: “Today is day one, but it is not a fresh start. It is a continuation of something that has served Buzzacott well for more than a century.”
“Buzzacott has always succeeded because it has been willing to evolve while staying true to its values. Our independence gives us the freedom to think long term, invest where it matters most and make decisions in the best interests of our clients and our people.”
“The professional services market is rapidly changing. New technologies, including AI, are reshaping how work gets done, while our clients are navigating increasing complexity and uncertainty. My focus is to ensure Buzzacott embraces those opportunities, continues to attract exceptional people and remains the firm where talented professionals can build rewarding careers and become future leaders.”
Tony Hopson, US/UK Tax Partner and former Managing Partner said: “It has been a privilege to lead Buzzacott for the past eight years. Together we have grown the firm, invested in our people and made deliberate choices about the future direction of the business.”
“Peter has been at the heart of those decisions. He combines commercial judgement with a genuine commitment to our people and culture, and I know he will lead the firm with integrity and ambition. Buzzacott could not be in better hands.”
“I am looking forward to spending more time with my US/UK tax clients while continuing to support the firm in its next chapter.”
Today the firm also announced 67 promotions, including 4 to Partner level.
