While there are positive signs of more capital flowing into the UK, Meera notes companies are also looking overseas - especially to the US and Europe - where bigger funding rounds and wider investor markets are on offer.

She highlights FinTech as a good example of this shift: Monzo is still weighing up a US listing, while Wise has been linked with a move to the NYSE even as it plans to become a UK bank. Looking ahead, the Autumn Budget could play an important role in how attractive the UK looks to businesses.
