Buzzacott advises Emapsite.com on its sale to Idox plc

Overview of deal 

Buzzacott advised the shareholders of Emapsite.com ("Emapsite"), a leading UK based geographic information systems (GIS/Geospatial) data provider on its sale to ldox plc, a leading supplier of specialist information management software and solutions to the public and asset-intensive sectors.

Who are the firms involved

Based in Farnborough and employing 33 people, Emapsite is a successful provider of Geospatial data to the UK market for customers associated with land and property across a wide range of vertical industries including energy, infrastructure, environmental, telecommunications, and construction sectors.

The acquisition will bolster Idox’s current GIS, mapping and data capabilities and complements their recent acquisition of Aligned Assets, thinkWhere, Exegesis and LandHawk. 

What we liked about this deal

Finding the right buyer was paramount to the shareholders, who founded the business over 23 years ago. There was significant interest in the business so really understanding how Emapsite would fit was a critical factor in selecting the right buyer. Idox had recently bought other geospatial assets so it was clear that there was great alignment there.
