A new managing partner for Buzzacott

We are pleased to announce that Peter Chapman has been appointed as Managing Partner, effective from 1 October 2026.
Peter will succeed Tony Hopson, who is stepping down as Managing Partner after eight years in the role. We thank Tony for his leadership, commitment and care he has brought to the position. Tony will continue in his role as Partner in our US/UK tax team.
Peter has played a significant role in the firm’s direction and growth for the past 15 years, with a deep understanding of the business and what matter most to clients. As well as heading up the firm’s highly successful Corporate Assurance team, Peter has been a longstanding member of the firm’s Executive Committee and has taken on several key leadership responsibilities, including acting as the firm’s Audit Compliance Principal and Practice Assurance Principal.
Peter’s appointment comes at a time when much of the professional services market is experiencing increased consolidation. Buzzacott remains committed to its independence and believes this continues to be a significant strength for the firm.
Tony Hopson, departing Managing Partner, said: “I am delighted to be handing over to Peter. He has made an outstanding contribution to the firm over many years, knows the business extremely well and has been closely involved in many of the decisions that have shaped where we are today.”
“He takes on the role at an important moment for the profession. While many firms are choosing to consolidate, we remain committed to staying independent. That allows us to make our own decisions, preserve what matters most about the firm and keep taking a long-term view. Peter is the right person to lead us through the next phase of our development.”
Peter Chapman said: “It is a privilege to take on the role of Managing Partner at Buzzacott. Our firm has a strong culture and a clear sense of itself and I’ve been fortunate to be part of its development for many years.”
“Our independence is an important part of who we are. It gives us the freedom to shape our future in the way that best serves the firm’s partners, staff and our clients. I look forward to building on the strong foundations already in place and guiding the firm through its next phase of growth.”
