Spring Budget 2021: Updates for not for profits

The last twelve months have demanded an incredible display of resilience from charities. This budget, and the phased re-opening announcements from the Prime Minster, represent a welcome step in the right direction.

Off the back of this announcement, organisations can benefit from the extension of the Social Investment Tax Relief scheme (SITR) and the furlough scheme, as well as restart grants that will be available to many organisations within the sector.

Much of this is welcomed news and it’s vital that charity and not for profits continue to take full advantage of the reliefs and the support available where possible. In some instances, such as the announcement of extended reliefs from business rates and VAT in the retail and hospitality sectors, it would provide cash-flow that allows organisations to tread the road to recovery in a stronger financial position.
