Jay joined Buzzacott in 2019 and is a Senior Manager in our Private Client team.
Jay’s areas of specialism include offshore trusts, UK and cross border estates, will planning, inheritance tax planning, non-resident CGT and ATED, AEOI obligations and reporting. He helps clients navigate the sometimes very complicated UK tax system and intricacies involved with double tax treaties.
He and the team deal with trusts and estates, which are becoming increasingly international meaning that they now deal with a large number of overseas trustees and individuals all over the world. His offshore work is primarily working out the UK tax exposure for the trustees, beneficiaries and settlors but also advising on the most suitable structures and trying to ensure that the trustees don’t fall foul of any anti-avoidance.
Jay is also a trusted advisor for individuals in later periods of their life or for family members who have suffered a bereavement to ensure all affairs are dealt with. In these instances, he guides them through the process and ensures it is completed as expeditiously and tax efficiently as possible.
Jay is a Chartered Accountant (ACA), Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA), AAT, SWAT UK Certificate in Probate and Estate Administration qualified, meaning he is qualified to undertake probate work, while he also has the ICAEW’s new Business and Finance Professional designation. Prior to working at Buzzacott, he was the Trust Director of a top 60 firm, heading up their trust, estates and probate team.
Jay is a film fanatic and is also a big fan of most sports.
