New Manager Pathway 2019: Communication.

Module 5 focuses on understanding of what it means to communicate and how you can deliver communications that ‘land’ with the recipient more effectively.

According to research, many team members feel that they are not communicated with sufficiently about things that affect them. Great people managers are the ones who are able to communicate clearly with others about the things that affect them. The focus of “Communication” is on developing a deeper understanding of what it means to communicate and how you can deliver communications that ‘land’ with the recipient more effectively.

At the end of this session you will:

  • Understand the role and value of effective communication, the barriers and how to overcome them
  • How to really listen through improved questioning technique
  • Become confident at dealing with and giving feedback

Many people who manage and supervise others have taken on these roles through natural progression. Buzzacott's New Manager Pathway fills that gap between technical expertise and people management capability.

 

This programme is endorsed by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) as a development programme,  and is designed to help delegates acquire the skills and confidence they need to fulfill their roles as supervisory managers. Successful completion of the full programme and assessment will give delegates the opportunity to achieve an ILM endorsed accreditation.

 

This module can be undertaken separately or as part of the full ILM endorsed New Manager Pathway Programme, allowing each delegate to tailor the training to their individual development needs.

 

This session will focus upon:

 

  • The importance of effective communication in the workplace;
  • Listening and questioning techniques;
  • Developing and displaying assertiveness in the workplace;
  • Applying models and theories relating to communication and assertiveness.
