The regulatory horizon - AIMA Next Generation Manager Forum

On Wednesday 28 May we were delighted to have the opportunity to sponsor and present at the AIMA Next Generation Manager Forum 2025.

At the forum, our team, Priya Mehta, Philip Wicksteed, and Edward Fullard, hosted a presentation on the regulatory horizon where they took their audience through insights on evolving hedge fund regulations, helping firms to navigate compliance and policy shifts in 2025.

In our presentation we used a 2025 & 2026 timeline as the central point of focus. This timeline shines a spotlight on UK regulations such as AIFMD II and Companies House Identification Verification. Download a PDF copy of our timeline using the link below.

Running for Pancreatic Cancer UK

Raising money for Pancreatic Cancer UK

On Sunday 6 April, more than twenty Buzzacott team members took part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon, with several also rising to the challenge of the TCS London Marathon on Sunday 27 April 2025. Together, they raised vital funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK, in memory of a number of Buzzacott family members who were sadly taken from us by this terrible cancer.

The team managed to raise a collective total of over £18,000 for the charity, which will go an extremely long way in helping to fund vital research to improve outcomes for people diagnosed with the disease.

A big thank you to everyone that donated, your support is greatly appreciated. A special shout out too, to Megan Smith, Edward Fullard, and Mason Magner who also ran for Great Ormand Street Hospital, Alzheimer's Research UK, and Mind respectively.

'The FCA is coming for culture' - breakfast briefing

'The FCA is coming for culture' - breakfast briefing

On Tuesday 17 June we were delighted to host a breakfast event on the topic of organisational culture and why it is so important to consider culture alongside business strategy.

With culture being such a hot topic for the FCA right now, the session couldn’t have come at a better time. Highlights from the event included:

  • Gregory Jones KC, Sheriff of the City of London, began by setting the scene, introducing the event and speaking about how legal frameworks and cultural integrity are critical, as organisations face increased scrutiny from the FCA.
  • Jon Sweet, CEO of Lysis Group, helped attendees to understand the importance of culture around key business milestones, such as mergers or acquisitions. Failing to manage the cultural aspects of deals can lead to challenges further down the line with both talent retention and regulatory requirements.
  • Andrew Pullman, CEO of PeopleClear, shared practical tips on how to ensure adherence to the FCA’s regulatory requirements around culture, SMCR, and real-life examples of the risks of non-compliance.
  • Chris Paton, MD at Quirk Solutions, then closed the session by asking attendees to analyse their own business culture, taking time to reflect on their current vs desired cultural position, leading to a greater understanding of how each business differed, each with their own goals and requirements for the markets they serve.

Thank you to Quirks Solutions, People Clear, Lysis Group, and City of London Corporation for your support and participation.
