Qualified Senior

This rolve involves providing quality accounting and auditing services to clients within the Charity & Not-for-Profit team.

Core Work

  • To act as an auditor in the Charity Team, working with a wide range of not-for-profit organisations, including charities (social, religious, welfare, international development, healthcare etc) and educational organisations (independent schools, government funded schools, colleges and universities).
  • To carry out all audit work, in compliance with the firm’s and statutory procedures.
  • To prepare accounts, including consolidated accounts, from both manual and computerised accounting records.
  • To provide general accounting services and assistance to clients in the preparation of accounts, for example preparing working papers.
  • To recommend improvements to the clients’ accounting systems and controls and assisting clients whenever needed.
  • To complete ad hoc advisory services to the firm’s not-for-profit sector clients as the need arises.

Audit and Accounting Assignments

  • To organise and run every assignment as effectively and as efficiently as possible, in accordance with the firm’s, and the professions professional and ethical standards and to ensure effective completion (as agreed with manager or partner) before manager or partner review.
  • To plan and complete audit files as per the Audit Completion Checklist.
  • To set up files in accordance with the Planning Checklist.
  • To brief, supervise and review the work of junior members of the team, providing constructive feedback and support as necessary, including preparation of formal review forms (where required by the team’s feedback systems).
  • To keep managers and partners informed of the progress on the team’s jobs.
  • To budget for your time and to keep costs within budget wherever possible. 
  • To control work-in-progress and to assist managers in raising fee notes as early as possible during every assignment.

New Business

  • To assist partners and managers in the charity team in attracting new work to the team, including meeting potential new clients, preparing budgets and proposals and creating marketing documents.

General Administration

  • To keep up to date with auditing and accounting standards and developments within the profession.  To take responsibility for attaining the requisite CPD each year and for maintaining records of CPD to provide adequate details to the firm’s Human Resources department for purposes of Audit Regulation.
  • To provide technical support to the charity team and its clients in investigating defined issues in liaison with partners and managers of the team.
  • To assist in the administration of the charity team as and when requested and when time allows.

Requirements

Essential

A levels or equivalent

Degree

ACA Qualified with only one referral or fail

Experience of auditing not-for-proft organisations; planning; preparing statutory accounts; full audit completion

Must have a strong audit bias

Able to delegate and review a file and junior team members work

Desire to progress to Supervisor level and beyond

Excel, Word, Outlook

Desirable

ACA Qualified with 1st time passes

Experience of being in charge of a team of 2 or more

Sage; ProAudit
