Practice matters – is outsourcing appropriate for you?

Thursday 25th November 2010

Recent articles in the legal press have focused on potential cost savings to be made from outsourcing aspects of practice management. Flexible outsourcing solutions can offer viable alternatives to an in-house approach and can be advantageous.

  • Cost savings – lower salary, recruitment, training, administrative and overhead costs which would all be associated with the cost of employing someone
  • Flexibility – to choose to pay for work by the hour or via fixed fee
  • Access to the latest knowledge – specialist outsourced teams with the very latest knowledge and technology
  • Reliability – with a dedicated, outsourced resource there is no need to worry about staff absence at critical times.

Before embarking on outsourcing, it is important to consider the reliability of the provider, to be sure that all services will be completed properly and that data confidentiality is not compromised. In most cases, it is the firm that remains responsible for the work even though the service is outsourced.

It seems to be increasingly common for professional practices to outsource their bookkeeping and accounting, payroll, VAT compliance, company secretarial and human resources. Talk to us if you are considering outsourcing any of these.
