AIM News: Former Torex boss accused of fraud
Tuesday 10th May 2011
The former chairman of AIM-listed software company Torex Retail has been charged with fraud following its collapse nearly four years ago.
Chris Moore, 56, is facing charges of conspiracy to defraud and false accounting following a probe by the Serious Fraud Office.
Torex supplied major retailers such as McDonald's, Argos, Homebase and Woolworths with software for shop tills.
The alleged offences occurred when Moore was chairman of Torex between May 2006 and January 2007. He was also chief executive until September 2006.
The Serious Fraud Office launched an investigation into the firm in January 2007 after being alerted by Torex's then chief executive Neil Mitchell.
The first hearing will take place on Friday at Banbury Magistrates' Court in Oxfordshire.
