New Manager Pathway: Managing conflict

Module 6 will help delegates identify and develop appropriate skills and techniques for managing conflict.

Unmanaged conflict has the potential to cause disruption, disharmony and to demotivate individuals within a team or group. Dealing with Conflict situations is a critical part of the People Manager’s role. “Managing conflict” will help you to better understand the causes and catalysts of conflict and how you can work to resolve or prevent it via different difficult conversations.
At the end of this session you will:

  • Understand the common causes of conflict and disharmony in the workplace.
  • Be more self-aware when dealing with conflict situations
  • Know how to effectively resolve and prevent conflict
  • Become more confident and assertive
  • Know how to plan and manage ‘difficult conversations’

Many people who manage and supervise others have taken on these roles through natural progression. Buzzacott's New Manager Pathway fills that gap between technical expertise and people management capability.

This programme is endorsed by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) as a development programme,  and is designed to help delegates acquire the skills and confidence they need to fulfill their roles as supervisory managers. Successful completion of the full programme and assessment will give delegates the opportunity to achieve an ILM endorsed accreditation.

This module can be undertaken separately or as part of the full ILM endorsed New Manager Pathway, allowing each delegate to tailor the training to their individual development needs.
