How to best reach resolution: an evening with HMRC

HMRC is developing an increased 'risk appetite', challenging and litigating cases in the full knowledge they may ultimately be lost at tribunal. Everyone providing professional services needs to be aware of all the options available when it comes to resolving disputes with HMRC to assist managing reputational and financial exposure to clients.

Join us on Thursday 28 September 2017 to gain an exclusive insight into how HMRC's Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) process can work for both your clients and you.

ADR provides a fast cost-effective option of resolving most disputes with HMRC without the stress and cost of tribunal. Discussions are conducted 'without prejudice' and are held confidentially outside the public arena. ADR provides a neutral, third party mediator and can be used at any stage of a dispute, even after HMRC has issued a closure notice.

Our panel will consist of senior HMRC representatives and Mark Taylor, Head of Buzzacott’s Tax Investigations and Dispute Resolutions team. HMRC will provide you with an exclusive insight into the ADR process, highlighting the success of the process to date and what the future has to offer. Mark will share his first-hand experience in resolving cases through the ADR process based on real life client case studies.

We look forward to you joining us for a lively discussion and Q&A opportunity with HMRC and our panel of experts.

Our panel so far:

Jim has been with HMRC for 29 years. After working investigation/enquiry cases for a number of years, Jim has spent the last 10 years in dispute resolution. Initially, in litigation (both as a caseworker and manager) and since November 2016 as AD for ADR in HMRC, excluding Large Business.
